Liliane Grace, creative writing, grow into your dreams, The Mastery Club

Award-winning Melbourne author's lateral tips for school and life success - with the help of a green-haired girl.

altMelbourne – May 28, 2010 – At a time when everyone is worried about ‘directionless’ teenagers, Melbourne author Liliane Grace, is still inspiring teenagers around the world with her book, The Mastery Club, which draws on contemporary brain research to show young people how to achieve their goals and dreams.

“Don't wait until the end of the year to see how you're going - decide what you want to achieve now,” says Grace, whose novel is about five school students who form a club to support each other in achieving their goals and dreams. “If you decide your end-of-year results now and visualise yourself achieving them, your brain will orchestrate events to help you realise that possibility.”

This is not a magic pill however; Grace's characters must come to grips with new concepts about how the brain works, and develop the character values of persistence, patience and focus as well. The novel incorporates cutting-edge information about the brain such as the following:

* Numerous scientific studies have demonstrated that the brain doesn’t know the difference between real and imagined. If you visit just some of the research into mental rehearsal (eg. http://www.breakthroughbasketball.com/mental/visualization.html and the work of Dr Joe Dispenza, author of Evolve Your Brain - The Science of Changing Your Mind), you will begin to trust your amazing brain far more than you ever have before…

* The brain works in pictures, so repeatedly dwelling on an image of your report card with the marks and comments you’d like to see there, will form stronger pathways in your brain and help you to form more useful, aligned habits.

* A Dominican University Study found that goal-setters who wrote down their goal, shared it with a friend, developed an action plan, and submitted a progress report did far better than those who merely thought about their goals. This is the essence of a Mastery Club, so find yourself  buddy or start a Mastery Club yourself, and help each other stay on track. (If you’d like to read comments from some teenagers who formed such a Club or just read the book, go to the kids' page at our website.)

* Persistence and patience are essential. Don’t give up after one try – keep at it. You are rewiring your brain, which scientists now know is possible (see The Brain that Changes Itself by Norman Doidge and Dr Dispenza’s book), and that takes time.

The Mastery Club – See the Invisible, Hear the Silent, Do the Impossible gives students the information and tools to transform their results, whether scholarly, sporting or personal. They will acquire these concepts and strategies through an entertaining fictional story, guaranteeing effortless learning. 10 Lessons are taught that guide them through those principles and practices step by step.

Since being self-published in 2006, The Mastery Club has been quietly selling thousands and is now bursting onto the world stage, with publishers in China and Germany both contracted or in process.

ABOUT LILIANE:
Liliane Grace is a prize-winning author and dynamic speaker. A few years ago she was a housewife who had given up on herself as a writer and whose marriage was on the rocks. A long-time fascination with the mind led her to apply principles she had read about, resulting in the transformation of her relationship. She then completed writing The Mastery Club, an idea which had been kicking around for some eight years, and she and her partner took on the risk of self-publishing. Her novel sold out its first two print runs inside 12 months, a rarity for an unknown self-published author. She has just finished writing a book based around the writing course she has been teaching around Melbourne for over 20 years.
